Back to basics

Nail colour can be the perfect accessory, but if you don’t do it right, nails can become damaged over time.  If applying nail colour on a regular basis, its best to have some sort of nail regimen – we’ll get onto that later.  For now, let’s just start with the basics.

BASE COAT – An absolute must!

It creates a barrier between the nail colour and the nail plate. This barrier not only protects the nail from becoming stained but also creates a smooth, even surface to apply the nail colour.  I would advise using a base coat even when applying clear, nude or sheer colours in order to create a professional look. My recommended base coats are:

BARRY M – Basecoat, Topcoat and Hardener

This is a great buy.  It’s super cheap and dries fast!  No one wants to wait for base coat to dry, the colour is the best part!

SALLY HANSEN – Maximum Growth Basecoat + Topcoat

Provides a nice even base for applying nail colour.
