Stand out shades for Spring/Summer 2014

The top shades to be wearing this Spring and Summer!

LILAC

Much like previous years, pastels are back, but with a new dominant shade!  The highlight colour for Spring 2013 nails was mint green but this year it’s been replaced by a lilac/lavender hue. A colour that is also extremely flattering on most skin tones.

PEACH

What was once a relatively difficult colour to get hold of, peach gets somewhat of a revival this Spring and Summer. Peachy, melon hues inject a subtle splash of fun to a manicure.

SAND

Although it may just seem like another nude there is a sliiiight distinguishing factor.  Sand is a specific shade of nude, which tends to contain a hint of shimmer for this upcoming season.

WHITE

Do you remember when white nails were compared to Tipex (White Out)? Nope, me neither! White nails get an update with the option to play on textures and add nail art.  Check out this tutorial on how to paint nails white perfectly

SKY BLUE

Sky blue and duck egg blue shades add a delicate and whimsical touch to a manicure.  The paler and more neutral the hue, the more versatile it is and can be a softer alternative to white.

TOUCAN do it if you try OPI

ORANGE

Almost like the cheeky cousin of Peach, rich Orange shades will lead us into Summer.  In contrast to the in-your-face neons of last year, vibrant creme shades offer a more relaxed approach to bold colour.

  1. Ooh, I love this! Pastel lilac/lavender is among my fave polishes ever. Just so sweet and delicate (like all pastels in general; though they can be a pain to apply). And currently am wearing a peachy-orange polish (with a Zoya Monet alike topper), so I must be bang on trend (for once). 🙂

    • Totally with you on the lilacs and lavenders. What’s a pain with applying them, the coverage?
Your current mani sounds lovely, you are most definitely on trend 😀

      • Ah, I made a rookie mistake :), I went over the same spot too many times and it got all weird from there (bald patches; bubbly; streaky (though a top coat can take care of that)). Plus, I’ve noticed application was way better without using a base coat (or maybe I just need a better one :)); since it was a light colour, I dared to go without.

        • Oh I see, been there. Don’t you love when top coat erases all the mistakes!
It could be the base coat or maybe it wasn’t dry enough…either way I’m glad it worked out and hopefully no staining 🙂
